"It's a Growl Thing"

This is a blog that focuses on metal, rock & hardcore/punk music. I'll be writing reviews on songs that I like, albums I love and concerts that I enjoyed! You'll find both new and old music here.

First of all, shout out to Grieved’s singer Marcus Lundqvist for his amazing tattoos. Quite unique!

Anyways, Grieved has been one of my favourite bands since I discovered them in October. They were formed in 2010 and released their first E.P, Ageing, in March, 2011.They are currently based in Stockholm and released their first full-length album in June, 2012, called Samaritans. Their sound can be described as high-tempo, dark hardcore mixed with metal. Their music is powerful, hard and very up-tempo.

Samaritans is the second song of the Samaritans album. It’s pretty much a typical Grieved song. It starts out slowly and builds up, bit for bit. In a blog Max Grundström described the singer, Marcus Lundqvist, as “the little man with the huge voice”, not sure how tall Marcus Lundqvist is but his voice fits like a glove with Grieved’s sound - powerful, huge and overwhelming. At the halfway point of the song the tempo goes up yet another notch. The song ends with a melodic piece which really turns down the tempo and ends the song nicely. It’s dark, powerful, deep, on the edge on being a bit depressive, fast and well… it’s Grieved! Check out their album review here -> Grieved - Samaritans (Album Review)
