"It's a Growl Thing"

This is a blog that focuses on metal, rock & hardcore/punk music. I'll be writing reviews on songs that I like, albums I love and concerts that I enjoyed! You'll find both new and old music here.

Avenged Sevenfold was formed in 1999 in Huntington Beach, California. The group consisted of M. Shadows (Vocals), Zacky Vengeance (Rhythm guitarist, backing vocals), Synyster Gates (Lead Guitarist, backing vocals), Johnny Christ (Bass, backing vocals) and The Rev (Drums, backing vocals). But The Rev found dead in his home in 2009 and the drummer has been using session-drummers ever since. Waking The Fallen is their second album and was released in 2003, and was met by positive reactions. The song Chapter Four was featured on several EA games, such as NHL 2004, Madden NFL 2004 and NASCAR Thunder 2004 which helped them get recognized and land a contract with Warner Bros. Records.

With their new album, Avenged Sevenfold continued with their metalcore sound but incorporated more clean vocals into their songs and more guitar solos, as can be heard on Chapter Four for example. The song starts off with a great drum and guitar intro and moves in to a vocal part where the screams are layered on to the clean vocals, which is pretty neat. Overall a great track, Avenged Sevenfold’s sound usually does not attract me but you can’t deny it - Chapter Four is a great track from start to finish.
